Egypt is renowned for its many ancient monuments some of which date to the 3rd millenium B.C. Old Testament texts feature dramatic stories of Israel in Egypt. Our journeys introduce our travelers to Egypt’s rich history and the Israelite experience in Egypt, but we are especially interested in the less well know legacy of Christianity in Egypt. The roots of Christian history in Egypt can be traced to Matthew’s Gospel, which features a surprising story of the flight of Mary, Joseph, and the young Jesus into Egypt to escape persecution. By the middle of the 2nd century, about half of the population of Egypt were baptized Christians. Our earliest and most complete manuscripts of the New Testament were preserved and discovered in Sinai. Join us on a journey.
